Good Morning!
This is my favorite time of the day. The house is quiet and filled with peace. I know the Lord is my Shepherd and I will not be in want. May this ink remind you of the Shepherd's many blessings.
Pasture! Is the word stuck in my thinking this week. I have always been interested in the life of the sheep-herder and his flock. I have been writing about my childhood and always feeling like the misunderstood one. When Jesus came into my life that all changed. He made me unique and a masterpiece of His perfection. What more could a girl want? So for the next few days or week, I will share with you my findings about my life in the pasture. Close your eyes and be still. Can you hear the still waters? The water moves slowly over the rocks and and rots of the river bottom. The contact creates the melody of the river and sings of peace and love The beauty of the pasture is breathtaking. From a distant view it is all green and lush, but a closer look opens up the bare spots and tufts of grass. Many different textures and colors form the big picture. I painted some sheep in a pasture a long time ago. I need to do a new one that speaks to me about the beauty and life of the sheep. We are all sheep. Some sheep wonder off and are rebellious but if it happens to often the Master Shepherd, breaks one of their legs so they stay close to him. That is when He carries them. I have been broken and carried. How about you? I continue to limp and crawl up on His lap for repentance and some much needed love.
As a child, I would suck the sweetness of the Red Clover. What a beautiful memory that is. I was sitting in the pasture even then. He connects those moments today in my 72 year old thinking bank.
Did you know that Red Clover is used in cancer prevention, high cholesterol, cough, asthma, bronchitis and sexually transmitted diseases. The benefits of the pasture. The pasture holds many hidden treasures.
John just came to the table without his hearing aids and I asked him if he ever sucked "red clover?" He said, "Left overs?" After several attempts, I showed him a picture on my phone. He said, "That is the best hay to feed cattle. It is full of vitamins and he remembers farmers planting clover." I didn't tell him that just thinking about "red clover" brought back the sights and smells of day gone by. I wonder if the pasture in the Bible days had "red clover" or if that was a forgotten gift to America?
Many times my dad and mother would talk about a person being put out to pasture. John and I are in the days of grazing and pasturing. Maybe this is where God put me, before He calls me to His heavenly home. I am just "pasturing." Maybe I will just graze, listen to the water and enjoy His beauty today.
The promise for today is: Gracious speech is like clover honey-good take to the soul, quick energy for the body. Proverbs 16: 24 Message
Today is going to be a great day. May the Lord bless you and keep you.
Love is in the ink.
Mary Kay
