A beautiful day here in the Hill Country of Texas. It was cool to start out with, but the sun warmed everything up by noon. Joey fixed steaks on the George Foreman and I fixed some garlic roasted potatoes and a salad. John hasn't felt good and spent all day in bed. Poor guy is still having itching problems. He has had a year and half of not feeling good. I wish, I could do something to make him feel better. He has a doctor's appointment at the VA on Thursday and Friday the skin doctor.
The lesson today was outstanding. The title was: Abide in Me. The key takeaway is: Reading without meditating is like eating without digesting.
The scripture foundation is from John 15: 5-8
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
The entire study made me want to sit in the Father's lap and never leave. The author shared an ancient story about how the Jewish boys at age 6 started school and the first day of school the rabbi would pour honey on their slates.. They were told to lick the honey because nothing is sweeter than the word of God. When the boys graduated at age 10 to 14 they had memorized several books of the Old Testament. I love the word but even more after reading that. I am the branch; connected to the vine.
I pray this sharing has inspired you to study the word and think about licking honey as you memorize some of the word.
The promise for today is: Thousands may fall around you, but you will not be harmed. Psalm 91:7
Love is ink!
Love is in my heart!
