August 29, 2017

Good Morning!

Thank you, God for hearing my prayers.  Eight hours of sleep again!  This is marvelous!  I am so thankful.  John is still asleep and I think he rested well last night also.  Like the seasons, my life is changing and that is a good thing.  I can't wait to see what God has planned for me.

Today, I have some bills to pay and some junking to do.  Yesterday, I enjoyed the time, I spent with  paper cutting and journaling.  It is time to continue using and organizing what I have.  Staying away from Hobby Lobby is actually a savings for me.

Here it is 6:30 pm.  The day went fast. John is glued to the news and the flood rescues.  He always loved working at the fire department back in the 80's.  He took lots of Water Rescue classes and loved it.  Now he watches it on tv.  I continue to be disconnected from television.  I do have the radio on tonight.  Texas is an amazing group of individual that help each other in a time of need.  I love the love they have for each other.  Our church called and wanted to know how we were.  They were willing to cut limbs or pick up wind damage limbs.  I am so grateful for those that care about John and I.

After I paid the bills, I went to the thrift store.  I hadn't done that for months.  I noticed lots of dishes, punch bowls and decorative dishes and I went home thinking about  a conversation, I over heard from a lady with a collection of plates (40 years worth) that wanted to bring them in for consignment.  The sales lady told her she would never be able to sell them for their worth.  I was sad for her.  On the way home, I thought about how life has changed.  Most of todays generation don't want things that mean a lot to my generation.  Maybe if they can sell it for cash might be a better take for them.   I tried to put those thoughts in a sensible sentence.  This is what I came up with;  the generation after mine wants to be served and not to serve.  I was blessed to be able to give and attend some of the most beautiful celebrations and I still love to invited others for breakfast, lunch or dinner.   As I have been down sizing I have given many things away and now I have to think about donating to Mexico or the real needy.  My children are not interested in any of my stuff.  I told John we need to sell the things of value and enjoy our lives more.

Todays promise is:  You can celebrate, because your name is written in heaven.  Luke 10:20

I love that promise and can't wait to arrive on that day. Very appropriate for my thoughts today.

Have a great evening.
Stay dry.

Love is in the ink.
Mary Kay
