August 26, 2017

Good Morning!

It is almost 5 am and the rain is slow and steady.  The earth is drinking.  I sat on the back porch with my coffee until I was stuffed up.  The rain is washing all the allergies in my direction.  I am looking forward to this day on the back porch.  I love watching and hearing the rain.  God is so good.

My son, Joey works at a little grocery store in the meat department.  He said all of Houston came for groceries last night.  He is already at work.  He is going to try and get caught up this morning before they open the doors.  It takes lots of different people to weather a storm. Some were rude, others were greedy and still other were kind and loving.  My thoughts are with those that had no choice but to stay. Jesus is still in the boat and He only needs to speak to the storm.  Storms have many purposes and lessons to be learned along the way.

The storm also stirred up my thankfulness.  I have always tried to be thankful for all my blessings.  I have noticed it isn't always part of human character.  It is a learned behavior and if you haven't learned it, I challenge you to do so.    Language changes and today it is a group of people that think they are entitled. They lack love, compassion and thank you is a foreign word to them. I try to focus on those that love, find compassion and are running over with thankfulness.

What a dishonor to our Lord and Savior.  He has given so much.  I think about how He healed the 10 leapers and only one came back to say thank you.  Thank you mean so much to my  people.  God's people and God himself are pleased with a simple thank you.   I love sending a thank you.  When I worked at the children's home, I noticed with every thank you note the next week we had doubled the act.  It reaps blessings over and over.

My little junk journals are going to take on a new look.  I love to coffee stain paper and see the amazing design that comes from it.  I plan to do a journal of all coffee stained paper and stampings.  Oh, I might do a little paper punching along the way.  I love seeing the paper come alive.  I am also planning to put in more scripture as my way of sharing God's word.  The sound of the baked paper makes it feel old and ready for memories in ink.

Yesterday, I shared that I would share some of my book with you.  I guess the storm came and my plans changed.  For some time, I have wanted to do a tribute to the women of influence in my life.  My plans are to set them apart.  They made a huge impact in my life.  Family history has made me the silver haired,  heart of gold person, I am today.  God has big plans for me and I am in the boat trusting and loving my Lord and Savior.

I spent lots of time resting and sleeping today. I just made some tacos for John and now I need to clean up the kitchen.  Tomorrow is a new day and I will be ready to conquer it.  John is doing somewhat better and that is a blessing.  I noticed the early mornings are hard on him and his legs are thin and fragile.  He doesn't like aging.  I can't say, I blame him.  Just need to make the best of each day and show the world we can make it.

The wind is picking up.  Jesus is still in the boat.

The promise for today is:  I will show mercy to those who are merciful to others.

Be blessed and stay safe.
Love is in the ink.
